My wife, Amy Zerner, and I know all too well that no words can express anything near to being appropriate to describe dear Barry, with whom we were privileged to work for several months, and describe the immensity of your loss and the loss of his light in the lives of so many. I am writing here in a feeble attempt to let you know that Barry and his serious humor added greatly to our lives and we feel blessed to have known him.

Lorraine McCarrick   12/27/13 1:39 AM

IH was very very saddened to learn of Barry's passing so unexpectedly on QVC this afternoon. i always loved watching him present jewelry and would never miss a show--even if it was at 2 a.m.! He made many people happy who watched him.I can only imagine how you are suffering. I lost my father almost 30 years ago and I know how hard it is--especially around the holidays. May you find the strength and God's love to help you thru this difficult time. You are in my prayers. Sincerely, Lorraine McCarrick

I only knew Barry through seeing him on QVC, but he was a very kind-hearted soul, always full of his witty ways of making people laugh. He will forever be in my heart, I'll always remember Barry, who made jewelry purchases fun at the Q. Barry was highly educated , I'm guessing by Kenneth J. Lane, whom Barry spoke of so fondly, he love Mr. Lane you could just tell, it wasn't just a job to Barry, he really loved the knowledge he received from Kenneth, always spoke with extreme caring for Mr. Lane. Just wanted to express my Sincere Sympathy to Barry's entire Family and let them know even the viewers of QVC at home loved Barry Ort.

Barry Ort was an extremely caring, dynamic, and energetic man. He was proud to serve his communities with genuine personal heart-felt dedication, concern, and action. Barry was a world-wind of energy who received great amounts of satisfaction by reaching out and trying to make others' lives better and happier. Jeff Scherer   12/27/13 9:50 PM

I have known Barry for quite a few years, as we met in Chicago in 2006. Barry had an infectious personality and had the ability to walk up to anyone and strike up a conversation, as no one was a stranger to him. He had a unique way of filling a room up with his energy, charisma and charm which was only matched by how caring and warm of an individual he was. Barry was generous, caring, would do anything for anyone, giving you the shirt off of his back, donating his time, raising money for charity, or helping any friend or family member in need and never ask for anything in return... I am going to miss his companionship when smoking a cigar, his brilliant conversation, and his passion for all things in life, but most of all I will miss his genuine friendship, pure heart, and the joy and love he shared with the world and all of us! My heart goes out to his family and close friends for your loss during this difficult time. May the peace which comes from happy memories comfort you now and in the days ahead.

Marianne   12/27/13 10:06 PM

Lisa castellon   12/27/13 10:34 PM

I enjoyed Barry very much anytime he was presenting his jewerly. He had a sinful sense of humor! Only to be enjoyed by other sinful, funny folks.....he commanded attention and made me happy. I am deeply sad I will not feel his presence just one more time. ...I send my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. I love a spirit that shines outward, Barry did that every time he was on t.v....fly high Barry and live on.....

I've known Barry for over 5 years. His funny smile and quick sense of humour often made me chuckle yet it was his devotion and honour that made you feel proud to have known him. I will miss greatly his constant drive to learn new things and strong hugs. I will miss you and it has been such a shock and yet still I find tears flowing every time I see a picture of you. Blessing to you my boy and to your new home since they are lucky to have you in their company.

Ms. Shawn Simpson-Smith   12/28/13 12:06 PM

I only met Barry a handful of times at various charity fund-raising affairs; but each time we met, it felt as though we had known each other for a lifetime. He was the most gentle, kindest, most loving individual. He was so full of life, loved to have fun and possessed a wicked sense of humor. Most of all, he was a great conversationalist and teacher, for he loved his work -- it was never work to him at all, it was his passion! He had no airs; he was just "Barry"; he lived his life on his terms and it was such a beautiful life! Our lives and this world are a little more empty, a great deal sadder, and a lot less fun without Barry. Even though my heart aches, I know that yours -- you the spouse and the family -- ache more. My deepest condolences and most heartfelt sympathies. May God bless him; may he always be remembered; may he rest in peace. May God hold you in his loving care and help to lessen your pain through the wonderful memories you made and have of Barry. Thank you.

I just enjoyed a few viewing hours with Barry on Monday on TSC in Canada. He was his same happy jovial self and had mentioned that when the buyers advised him of the sudden change in programming for the KJL line he had to come to Canada for the shows. Then the other evening I was looking for a piece of jewellery and I picked up a bracelet he convinced me I needed and out loud I said Barry I don't wear this often enough. Then hours later I read that you were gone Barry. But HOW, WHY???? GOD HAS CALLED YOU HOME, DEAR ONE, OH WILL YOU BE MISSED.........!

Jack McNulty   12/28/13 1:59 PM

Friends multiply our joys and divide our sorrows. How well Barry proved to be a friend to so many. Though we lived at a distance his warmth and generosity was an inspiration. I hope I can be as good of a man as Barry. My Condolences to all who knew him.

I'm totally shocked - how could someone with so much vitality and life to live be gone? I watched Barry sell KJL in the UK and in the USA and I really felt his warmth and genuine love for his work and his boss Kenneth. I was only wondering a couple of days ago when the next KJL show would be on QVC and all the time he had passed away and I didn't know until tonight. I am so sorry he's gone and I want to convey my heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends. RIP Barry.

I have had the pleasure of watching Barry on QVC since day one. I loved his wit, knowledge and charm. I also in the last year have communicated with him on Facebook. I will so miss his laugh and funny sayings. RIP my friend. You may be gone but you will not be forgotten. May God grant peace to his family.

I am one of the fortunate ones who knew Barry. We met when we were in high school in a youth group. His zest for life, loyalty to friends, honesty and fun loving nature was what I will always remember. One of my fondest memories was a bus trip to Toronto to an athletic tournament. Seems a full circle and gives comfort in some kind of way that that is where his life ended. You will be missed my friend, you will be missed.

To the family and friends of Barry, may God be with each of you during your time of sorrow. I didn't personally know Barry but seen him numerous times on QVC. He was always so likeable, funny, and seemed to be just a great person to watch and be around. He truly will be missed by many viewers of QVC. The memories of Barry will live on for many years to come. God Bless All!

Betty DellaPelle   12/31/13 11:34 AM

I first met Barry many years ago on a visit to see David, who has been my friend since the early '70's when we worked together in Detroit. Barry was so darn lovable, and I could easily see right away what a special relationship they had and how perfectly suited they were for each other. I only got to NY a few times before moving west, but I always heard through David about things they'd done, places they'd gone and how great Barry's career was doing--and of course their fabulous Paris wedding. Now there are no words to measure the grief. My heart breaks for all the family and friends Barry has left behind, but especially for you, my dear friend.

Another QVC viewer, shocked and saddened to hear of the loss of this wonderful soul. His great heart, passion for life, and love of family and friends was a joy to behold, and he will be missed by us, and treasured on the other side. Thanks to his loved ones for sharing him with us, and my thoughts and prayers go out to you all in your time of sorrow. I hope you can find comfort in your happy memories of him.
